On Rainy Thursdays

Today has just been one of those non productive, stay in your pj's sorta days. It's been cold, rainy and gray. Thought I would share something that made me smile today! Coldplay came out with their official Paradise video this week. (Only 4 days until the official album release) It's just plain fun!

I am still here,....

Hello out there! Did you miss me? I am still alive and well over here. Been beyond busy this past month and unfortunatly, that has ment that my blogging suffered. I am hoping that this is the end of all the summer craziness and that once again I will be posting on a weekly basis. I have missed you all!

So excited to share some things I have been busy with this past month and some ideas I will be working on for the fall. Until then,.....here is Coldplay's new song they JUST released today! I have kept it on replay all afternoon. I am loving it!!! They will be releasing their new album on October 24. For those of you who know me and my little obsession with the band, you know that I am beyond excited. May the countdown begin,......

Tuesday's Tunes

This song is one of my picks for "best summer hit" (so far). I can't seem to get it out of my head! Her name is Eliza Doolittle singing "Money Box." Here she is:

Memories,....

Today I remember my Pop-paw. This song reminds me of the many summer nights we would sit on the porch swing at his house and sing songs from his "Old Kentucky." (This was one of his favorite songs) He would tell us stories of when he was a boy growing up there. All the struggles, heartache, and the joy that the hills brought him. It was always a treat when his friend Rastice Rogers back home would come up to visit with his banjo! They would sing together for hours. Such wonderful childhood memories. I can still hear the music....I miss him.

A Little Break

With all the fun that we had this weekend,... between the rib burn off that my husband participated in this weekend at our church (they lost by one vote) and the diaper party I hosted for my sister, I am a bit tired today. Thought I would take a break from sewing (just for today) and relax. To add to the amazing summer like weekend, I received word that Coldplay finally decided to release a single from their upcoming album (I have been waiting!). It's really good! Adding it to my ipod so I can enjoy listening to it over and over. Yeah, I am a bit obsessed with Coldplay. :)

What I am listening to...

As I am joyfully sewing this week, I find that I am more productive if I listen/sing to music while I work. I find that this is also true when I cook. Anyone out there sing and dance in the kitchen while working? I love it! It makes things more fun. I thought I would share this hidden jewel I discovered a little while ago. They are a group of talented musicians who call themselves "The Lower Lights." Out of the great state of Utah. They have collaborated together to sing and play hymns that are not well known and have given their own spin on those that are. It shows that hymns are relevant and timeless. I have purchased a CD for myself and have given one to my mom as a Christmas gift this year. If you like, you can always buy the downloads on their site. Trust me, their music is amazing. Brings back many memories of my grandparents church as a little girl. Singing these songs along side them. Those were happy times. If you get a chance check out their blog/website: The Lower Lights

Here is a little taste of what they sound like:

Hope this brings many happy memories to you as well. Happy sewing my friends!

Tuesday's Tunes

This past week I scored tickets to go see a "Secret" Concert of one of my all time favorite singers, STING! I couldn't believe that I not only got to go to the show, but I got to sit in the center of the 6th row (which tech. was the third row with three rows of folding chairs in front of us). I had a BLAST!! (Ok, that is an understatement! ha ha) I was able to get some amazing shots at the concert. Hoping to get them posted soon. Yes, he was as handsome in person as he is on TV. ha ha

I thought today that I would share with you one of my favorite songs. Music was written by Dominic Miller (playing the guitar) and lyrics written by Gordon Sumner (aka STING). Sooo good!

Fashion Forward

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in fashion. I get a bit giddy every time my Elle magazine comes in the mail. It's fun to flip through it and dream of buying one of everything. It is interesting how they (Marc Jacobs, Burberry etc) showcase some of the newest, cutest, stylish clothes in the adds. (ie. shoes, clothes, hand bags) They are within themselves pieces of art. I ran across this company the other day called Nadinoo. They are a clothing boutique based in London. Very feminine, whimsy, retro sheek clothing. They came up with a clever way to showcase their clothing,... by creating a lovely music video. Just Brilliant!!

Rocking & Rolling

This weekend we were so excited to go and see my brother Luke play with his band 'Speak' at their official CD release party! They put on a great show! We were suprised to see that Liam loved the music as well, so much that he decided he was done with holding our hands, and ventured off on his own. He is now officially walking! (Dancing as well!) It is exciting, yet sad.....my baby is growing up!

Music makes me happy!

Spending this snow day sewing and listening to an amazing album. If you haven't heard of Sara Watkins, you are certainly missing out. Originally she was in the group Nickel Creek (remember them?) but her brother Sean Watkins (which went on to start a side project called: Family Reunion with the lead singer from Switch Foot, Jon Foreman) and Chris Thile (which now is the lead singer for the band Punch Brothers) decided to do projects individually. I still keep hope for the Nickelcreek reunion. ::crossing fingers::

Sara's debut album hit the scene in 2009. It does not disappoint! I am loving the tracks, "All This Time", "Long Hot Summer," and "Freiderick." She is one talented girl. She is touring this year with the Decemberist. Hoping they make a stop near me,...I would love to see them!

Here is the song that I have had on repeat all morning.......enjoy!

Tuesday's Tunes

So, I am back! Did you miss me?! After begging my dear husband to fix my lap top, (which some how decided to stop working) he finished it this weekend! :) I have to say, I had some blogging withdraws. I have found it to be a bit therapeutic and helpful to collect my thoughts. I forget sometimes that people actually read my blog. I was reminded of that when a friend's mother mentioned something I had posted....it took me back a bit to think that there are people who actually follow. I felt a bit embarrassed, and yet flattered all at the same time! So to those of you who read these blogging clips on my life,..thank you! It would be great to have some (comments) feedback once and awhile to know who all of you are! Or why not start your own blog?

Last weekend, I went with a friend to see "Country Strong". It has been quite awhile since I have set foot in a movie theater. It was great to have some girl time. I may have to make this a part of my winter schedule. So if you are reading this Julie F. let's pick another movie to go and see! Anyone else care to join us?

This is the music video to the movie. I don't want to give away any of the main details of the movie....but I encourage you to see it! Gwyneth Paltrow was brilliant! I for one would love to see her come out with an album someday! Although, the movie sound track (which I ran out and bought) has her lovely voice throughout it. Can't get enough of this!!!

Tuesday's Tunes (Count down to Christmas)

I don't know about you,..but I am NOT ready for Christmas. We only just put up our Christmas tree  and decorated it yesterday. It's just been a bit crazy this month...who am I kidding,..it's been a crazy year! My husband Tom and I were chatting last night while stringing the lights on the Christmas tree about all that this year brought to our doorstep, the stress, the blessings, the lesson to trust the Lord with everything. We are both looking forward to 2011.

I really needed to hear this song today. Amy always know what to say and how to say it. I woke up with an overwhelming feeling that I wont be able to get all that I want accomplished done before Christmas. This song spoke to my heart,...we all need to just take some time for a bit of Silence. Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season. I pray that today and the rest of the week that I will not loose focus of that. If I get my list done before Saturday,...wahooo! If I miss the mark, oh well. This year, I am taking time to enjoy the Christmas holiday without stressing myself out. (Let's just hope I can keep this promise).

This isn't the official video for this song, (I couldn't find one) but you can at least listen to the lyrics.

Tuesday's Tunes (Count down to Christmas)

It's been a few days since I have updated my blog. We have been super busy around here. Between sickness, work, and all the Christmas festivities, it seems as if December is flying by. I am taking time this week to enjoy the season. Time to take a deep breath, drink some hot cocoa and listen to some music. Hoping to get that last Christmas shopping done, the tree decorated (yes I am slacking here) and gifts wrapped.

This song is one that I LOVE. It reminds me of the time I spent Christmas in the UK. The shops were filled with people, the smell of Christmas pine and this song was one of many that I enjoyed while shopping. I swear I heard it 20 times in one weekend. Tom makes fun of me because it's "such a cheesy song". But there is just something about it that I can never get sick of. Although I do admit, it is a cheesy music video. (I was a bit disappointed with it, if I were to be honest)

So to all my fellow cheesy music fans!! Enjoy!

Tuesday's Tunes (Count down to Christmas)

If you know me, than you know how much I love Coldplay! So you can only guess how giddy I was when I found out a few months ago that they were coming out with a Christmas single. (I wish they would come out with a whole album, but I shouldn't be greedy.) The day it was released I was more than impressed! What a wonderful early Christmas gift! :)

Tuesday's Tunes

Have you ever heard a song on the radio/online and it gets stuck in your head for days? Not one of those "ear worms" that gets stuck in your head and you actually hate the song. I am talking the kind of song that you love and could possibly listen to over and over and never get sick of. You are cooking dinner, driving, brushing your teeth and you start humming the tune. Yeah,..that has been happening with this song. I heard it a few months ago and immediately loved it. It's a new group on the country music scene called "The Band Perry". It consists of three siblings, Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry from Greenville Tennessee. You can't help but fall in love with their sweet country voices. To my surprise, they even popped up at the CMA's and sang a little bit before announcing a winner. I have a feeling that this little group will be around for quite awhile.

Tuesday's Tunes (Wednesday edition)

So Tom's Birthday is coming up. Still having a hard time figuring out what to buy/make him this year. (If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share them with me) Every year it gets harder and harder to come up with something creative. Well,..that he will actually like. Not like he is a picky person, but he is just so darn hard to buy for. So when he suggested that we go to a concert, I was all for it. He has been digging "NEEDTOBREATHE" this year and was so excited to see that they were come to the nearest House of Blues! What a great way to celebrate a Birthday! These guys are amazing! If you get a chance to hear them live, please don't hesitate to go to one of their shows. They do not disappoint.
